The Founders, like most people, worked at many small companies or doing contract work. We were frustrated that small companies and contractors were unable to find affordable benefit plans similar to those that large companies could offer. It was not fair, but that was simply the way it was.

In 2001 we purchased a company that provided Health Spending Accounts. We understood the potential of helping small businesses in attracting and retaining employees by offering benefits. That was the beginning of the journey that is PeopleWell Solutions.

As we were educating companies about Health Spending Accounts and benefits, business owners started asking about how to be compliant with different rules and regulations. The solutions were pieced together using different software in order to provide a whole. Unfortunately software and apps never integrate easily or properly.

The founders met one afternoon and sketched on a napkin the concept of a single system that managed payroll, benefits and employee information. Rules and regulations built in. Updated and applied automatically.

So started our journey of developing and programming a cost effective solution that automates benefit and payroll tasks. We also wanted to keep everything 100% Canadian produced– no outsourcing.
